Eiffel

Bonjour everyone! A big hello from Pareeee! Whenever I see the Eiffel tower it always brings back memories of my first visit to Paris during my uni days with my runners and backpack.  I was crowding with all the other tourists pushing and shoving in the lifts to get up the Eiffel tower like a wide-eyed crazy tourist who hadn’t seen the world. I remembered how amazing the views were from above and how beautiful the tower stood, in perfect geometrical harmony with the rest of the city streets. Every time I visit Paris I make a visit to the Eiffel tower for a photo stop and this trip was no exception.

From Paris with Love

For those of you who have watched ‘Midnight in Paris’ by Woody Allen you will remember the infamously captivating opening scene. It is this achingly beautiful scene that has brought me back to Paris for the third time.

Paris is a city that I will never grow tired of, and this conversation between Adriana and Gil from the movie sums up why:

Adriana:  I can never decide whether Paris is more beautiful by day or by night.

Gil:  No, you can’t, you couldn’t pick one. I mean I can give you a checkmate argument for each side. You know, I sometimes think, how is anyone ever gonna come up with a book, or a painting, or a symphony, or a sculpture that can compete with a great city. You can’t. Because you look around and every street, every boulevard, is its own special art form and when you think that in the cold, violent, meaningless universe that Paris exists, these lights, I mean come on, there’s nothing happening on Jupiter or Neptune, but from way out in space you can see these lights, the cafés, people drinking and singing. For all we know, Paris is the hottest spot in the universe.

New York Travel – Helmut Lang Stretch Leather Pants

Helmut Lang Stretch Leather Pants

This was my favourite photoshoot taken while in New York. Spring filled the New York air – the impressive sight of cherry blossoms starting to bloom. I’m happy we were able to capture the moment. The cherry blossoms made a stunning backdrop for the photoshoot; a memory I will treasure for years to come.

I was also wearing some of my favourite new purchases that day; one item in particular, the Helmut Lang stretch leather pants. I have been looking forward to owning a pair of leather pants for a long time. I had three pairs in mind but was always hesitate to purchase them without first trying them on.

I started reading reviews on the Alice + Olivia front zip leather leggings and by the time I was done I decided I couldn’t go another day without these leather leggings. I ordered the size 0; I am always the smallest size in clothing and my concern was whether the fit would be too big on me. When I tried these on I couldn’t get it past my knees (huge disappointment)! The design was what attracted me to these leggings in the first place, however, the leather was thinner than expected and it looked like the leather would scratch easily. I was also thrown off by the unfinished hem so I decided to pass on them rather than exchanging them for a size up.

The other pair I had in mind was the J Brand Super Skinny leather pants which I had also read good reviews on. When I was in New York, I had my mind set on trying on both the J Brand and Helmut Lang leather pants.

I first went into the Helmut Lang boutique in Soho and tried on the stretch leather pants in size US 0. I did not want to take them off!  They look amazing on and are very comfortable to wear at the same time. The only adjustment I had to make was to take up the hem (I am 162cm) which a quality tailor can do easily (photos taken post tailoring).

I wore this outfit to lunch at La Bernardin. Le Bernardin is one of only seven restaurants in New York awarded three Michelin stars so we had to try it while we were here. We enjoyed a three course lunch.
